Well, I just finished installing my new TAG bars and grips - they are the ones with the crossbar pad, not fat bars - and they are CR Double High bend - a high dirtbike bend. The are a great fit.
I noticed where the cables could be a bit tght with a +1 or 1.5 stem and high bars, but mine are totally ok with the stock stem. I took off the parking brake - and did the block off. I too off the idle adjuster from the bars and taped off the cable end and tucked it away under the hood.
I ended up removing the little wire hoop that keep all the cables together - it made them even tighter with it on.
I thought the front plastic was easy to take off, and I ended up doing away with the dash panel all together. I just unplugged it and set it aside.
I re-zip tied some of the wires under the hood to try to get as much slack as I could and got maybe another inch or so.
