maybe someone else who is reading my post can answer my question....whenever i fill my rear brake master cylinder, brake fluid leaks out from the emergency brake off cover. I opened the cover up and its leaking around the post that the cover is covering. Anyone have an idea what it can be?

cause he disassembled, PC'd and re-assembled my calipers. ;)

After looking at the diagram on servicehonda.com, looks like its the o-ring that's missing like you said.....thanks.

Ed, I just tried calling you:p

Yes, there is a small oring that is there to stop/seal the piston. If you want to order it and send the caliper here I will install it etc. If not, you can use some RTV sealant on the brake block off, just wipe the area clean with laquer thinner etc.

Sometimes those seals literally disappear, they can be there when you install it and gone before you know its shot.

Pappy...sorry I missed your call. I tried calling you back, but didnt get ya.

Do I need any special tools to take apart the caliper? If not, I can attempt it even though I've never taken apart a caliper before. If you think it might be a pain, I can ship it to you along with the o-ring that i'm ordering. Let me know what you think would be best to do.

Thanks!

Its not all that hard, infact i did a "How To" thread in the"How To" section on disassembly/reassembly. Its yoru call, we would be happy to do it if you are unsure about it etc.

The dealer has the part in stock, so I might take a stab at it so I can hopefully have it ready to ride by the end of the weekend. I'll let you know if I run into any problems. I'm sure the How To will help me out!

Pappy...just checked out the how to. Do I need an air compressor or doesnt the piston have to be removed to get to the area where the o-ring is placed? If so, I'll have to send out to you since I dont have one.

ahhh, blame that on something else, but acknowledging the problem and fixing it same day is still excellent customer service!

no ed, its still here. I meant to make a run to the tool store to buy a new tap so i could make sure the block off bolts were good to go for ya, but have not had a chance. I will be going to town tomorrow, so I will pick one up, clean those threads up and get her out so you will have it for this weekend etc.

(I had teh correct tap and thread chaser up until thursday:chinese: )

hey pappy....received the caliper and bled the brakes...thanks!!

have a question for ya...the rear brake slows me down now but doesnt come close to stopping hard enough to skid or even brake hard if I wanted/needed to. I didnt use any disk brake cleaner, so maybe there could possibly be a little grease on it from my hands when I took it off to put on my new LSR hub. could a little grease make the braking that poor or do you think something on my caliper needs to be tightened or replaced? Let me know...curious to see what you think.

chances are it just needs to be bleed again. we use an airvac bleeder here now...and we actually can get them too tight:eek2:
