View Full Version : how to get piston back into caliper???
ok, I am changing the brake pads for the first time on my 300ex. I got the caliper and old pads out just fine, but I can't seem to get the piston back flush with the caliper. Any ideas of how to make it flush or why it isn't?

Few things:
If its the rear remove any parking brake stuff.
Front or rear you may find it easier if you loosen the res cap.
Try to keep even pressure across the piston so you dont damage it. If lightly applying pressure with the c clamp or v grips (with something thin between the jaw and piston) doesnt do it then you may have to open up the bleeder a little to let out the pressure, but it will make it harder to bleed later since you lost more fluid etc.
have fun

a ''c'' clamp, or large slip joint pliers
