You can get started with your patent. Get drawings, measurements, pictures etc. what parts or design you are gonna try to patent. Take it all to you patent lawyer and he'll get you started. You will enter into the "patent pending" status for about 2yrs before you get any info back on what can be patented. If anyone copies your a-arms and sells them during the 2yr patent pending status and you end up getting a patent on a part or design, you can go back and sue them for profits made on that part of your patented design. Have fun. Oh yeah, you may not even be able to patent that design or any part of that design but be prepared to shell out around $8k for all this. We are working on getting patents right now on a product, so I know. It’s a headache.
