anyone ever ship a atv motor?
do you have to build a crate, or drain the fluids. can you just bring it to ups and let them handle it?

drain all fluids,i went to wal-mart and got 3 totes to protect my motor along with alot of foam to go between the totes and taped the chit out of it.i know people have had problems with this way but i guess i was lucky.nothing happened to mine.definately insure it though.

I shipped my Cannondale motor to Wisconsin in a big cooler.

Theres a particular cooler at Wal-Mart, that happened to fit my motor PERFECTLY, I sat the motor in there, along with my Falicon crank, packed a ton of newspaper around it, and on top of it. Then I closed it up, and had it banded(steel bands compressed tightly around it) Then took it to UPS....cost 96 dollars and change. No problems.

If you don't have the ability to band it. You can duct tape the crap out of the lid, then throw a ratchet strap around it, along with duct taping the ratchet shut. Thats the way the builder packed it to ship it back to me.
