Do stock 450r front shocks bolt right up to a 400 ex or is there modification needed, also how much better are the 450r's shocks than the 400 ex's stockers.

I herd that YFZ shocks will bolt right up to a 400EX.

NO the yfz shocks are not a direct fit u will have to grind a little off the shock mounts

and yes the 450r shock are a direct bolt on and they are alot better then stock 400ex shocks.

450r shocks require grinding on the top shock eye and on the frame shock mount... i put a set on my bike 2 months ago, i bought a $20 angle grinder from lowes and it took about 30 mins from start to finish to switch them out

I was wondering the same thing...On a scale of 1-10 where do the stock ex, 450r, and the yfz shocks rate against each other?

I have YFZ on mine.ALOT better than stock I do not know how the R shocks perform

if you run the R shocks you can get the triple rate kit and revalve and have the stock rear redone with double rate and revalved and have serious shock setup all around its what i hope to run soon!:macho

how much should someone expect to pay for the kits and revalving and where do you get it done at?

They'll bolt right up so long as you grind a little on the upper shock mount, it's a nut on the underside that holds the fender brace. My girl's quad handles a lot tighter now that my old stockers are on there, plus it's adjustable all the way around now. I'm going to send them off to GT Thunder to have them modify them for longer travel and revalved, plus a rear XC link and revalved stock rear.

2MuchChi450R,

Thats is exactly what I did. It possible that your girl's quad may ride better then yours!
