Hello all. I am new to the site and just had some questions.

I have a 2002 300EX. I got it at a good price and it was barely ridden. I have alot of family with sport quads so that is why I got one. I have a blast on it, we ride a couple homemade tracks and trails in the area. Just having a good time. In the near future I am going to invest in a 400EX but for now I have the 300. I am 6'2 and 260lbs, not small at all and probably on the big side for the 300 but I still have a ton of fun on it, I havent had any problems with a lack of power to where it inhibited me from doin anything anyone else was doin.

Now Im lookin for some upgrades for the quad. I already got a set of Maxxis rears. Lookin for a good set of fronts, an exhaust, and any other lil odds n ends I can do to get some power out of it. I know I can go with a rev eliminator, maybe a new piston or a bore kit? Also is it better to remove the airbox lid or pop the holes in it and put the vents in? Thanks for any info you can give me, really appreciate it.

id get some sort of exhaust- sparks, hmf- air filter-uni, k&n- and jet it. after that upgrade the front suspension if you do any jumping at all.

Yea we ride on alot of homemade MX tracks. I was thinking about goin with the bolt on kit that lets u run a 400 or 450R shock on the front of the 300s. Anyone used one or know anyone that is using one? Ive heard they are awesome kits. Basically just relocates the top shock mount on each side. Stock location on the bottom

if u are goin to be jumping don't get a bolt on kit get the mounts welded up higher on the frame or u can go on ebay and get 250r stock a-arms and shocks and use them in place of the stock 300ex setup i did that to my 250x and it gives u a +2 up front and better travel + the 250r shocks are 10 X better than stock 300ex shocks thats on way u can go ....got to love ebay...that and a good pipe HMF\White Bro.\Yoch will give u a 3 to 5 HP increase along with a good air filter and jetting kit u should be good to go also look at an outerwears airbox lid there cheap and will give u more air flow than a stock lid

i wouldnt recommend using a relocator kit or the widening kit on a mx track. i ran one last year. i broke a tie rod last year and twisted the whole frame. im now running 400ex +2 a arms and 400ex works pro series and it works great.

Did the 400ex a arms bolt right up with no clearence problems? Did you have to use a 400 spindle assembly or did the 300 work fine?

bolted right up, no clearance issues, all that was needed was extended brakelines, which came with the a arms.(american star)

go buy a 330 kit that would come with a pipe air filter and the stuff for the motor then put on some stock 400ex a arms and 450r shocks

That is one thing I was looking into was a bore kit. But Im new to the ATV kits. I am used to diesel motors, you can put in a crank and rods n pistons and take a DT414ci to a 466ci. I been lookin into kits, like the 330 kit, and wondering if its just a crank and rod and piston or what? Or does the cylinder bore have to be bored out and all that. Also how hard is it to do a kit? Would I have to do any work to the head? Cam?

dude....just get yourself an HMF sport slip on the jet kit and a good filter...like a twin air, uni,k&n and u will get a nice boost in power without killing your pocket book than go on ebay and get yourself some 250r a-arms or 400ex...don't matter there both the same size...and some 450r stock shocks for the front...than worry about the big bore kit and yes most bore kits comne with the sleeve....goto four stroke tech.com i think they have them there for 300$ but if i were u i would worry about the other stuff befor the big bore kit but thats me....do what u want...it's your quad :P

whats wrong w/ the disk guards? you cant see them when the wheels are on and id rather not have a rock lock up my tire and kill my rotor.

whatever u do DO NOT take off your disk guards...unless u wanna buy new brake disks 3 times a year....they are there for a reason........ why would take them off ....that is stupid
and i think anyone that post here...well 90% of them will agree with me on that

I believe you should invest your money into the suspension before you get a big bore kit. If your looking for some power, remove your airbox lid, get an aftermarket cdi box, a full exhaust system (all the exhaust systems offer a major increase in power), maybe a cam with a little port work. After that a bigger carb will also help with throttle response and top end power. With these mods you will easily go faster than you'll want to with the stock suspension. The 300ex and 250x are pretty unstable at high speeds.

P.S.
powroll.com and fourstoke.net are a couple of good sites for big bore kits, they also offer other engine upgrades.:D

i agree....i have a 250X...and they are tuff to handle at high speeds on a rocky path with the stock shocks...i got 250R a-arms and 250r front shocks for 106$ on ebay and my front end it 10X better than it was stockthe 250r a-arms will give u a +2 up front
