Does the 450r gas tank breathe?????? The reason I ask is the paint I've applied has bubbled for the third time.. I've used adhesion promoter and scuffed the tank prior to application.

So when the bike sits in the sun and the vapors expand where do they go... The gas cap seems to just vent in and not out.. Anyone???

Yes the gas tank breathes. I honestly don't know of a solution. I've just done graphics, never paint. I wish I could help you. Good luck.

yes the vapors do leak out, thats why graphics that go directly on the gas tanks have the holes in them.

there is a site that sells graphics, which recommends using a petroleum safe clear coat, prior to installing the graphics.
i forget the site.....someone on here posted it for me once.

anyway, i'm not sure sealing the tank like that is a good thing.
the tank was made to breathe for a reason.
i do not know what adverse affects would happen with sealing the tank. anyone know?

Someone suggested to me to use the Krylon plastic fusion paint on the tank. Apparantly the plastic paint has special adhesion that seals the pores of the tank, and will allow application of stickers without them bubbling. I have not tried it but it may be worth a shot. Just wanted to throw that out there.

OK then, does someone make a gas cap that breathes "in both directions" but doesn't spill out too much when rolled????

How do these guys paint the tanks on their drag bikes???
