is that the jump in st. anthony's sand crusade that is like 230 feet? cause it looks exactly like it...

yup, same hit. Those two were hitting it 4th gear taped and launching 120-130 feet. It is right behind choke cherry.

where abouts from choke cherry is this jump, is it on the backside??? i need to find it when i go in august!!!

These dunes are sick. Not as big as Glamis but very, very good. We go for a week at a time and it doesn't get old.

If you want to hit that jump here are the directions. If you climb choke cherry and get to the top of the hill keep driving to your right and you will see it. It is right behind choke.

Here is a short 2 minute video. I need a program that will rip a dvd to MPEG. If anyone knows a good free one I would appreciate it. There is no cool editing on this one, but I have an hour and a half of footage and want to make a sweet video for everyone to see.

Sweet video . I've always wanted to see and ride dunes ..... we got nothing like that around here . The closest dunes are Silver Lake Michigan and I still haven't made the drive to see them yet !!!:ermm:

I am from Minnesota and haven't gone to Silver lake either. I would suggest driving the extra hours and go to St. Anthony. The dunes there are sick.
Silver lake is 12 hours from Northern, MN and St. Anthony is 19 hours.

Off topic question for you .... What kind of camera are you using , cuz those are some nice clear pictures . My Canon Powershot doesn't take nearly as nice of pictures as those ( or maybe I'm not doing something right)

I am using a sony cybershot 4mp dsc-p71. I have it set to manual mode and I have the shutter speed set to the fastest it will go (1/1000) Eliminates the blur on action shots.

Kooskia is about 500 miles north of St. A's. I dont think i'll be able to make it in June because I'll be working then. If you want you can light the sage brush on fire and the Forest Service will send me down there for free.:D But i dont think they'll let me take my 450r on top of the fire engine...

I'm guessing it's not your first time using a camera . Dude I'm still amazed at the quality of your pictures. That last picture is worthy of a front page magazine cover .


The more I see 400EXs , the more I think I might go out and buy one to play around with . The Grizzly I bought on the weekend is paid off and is loaded so I won't have to dump any cash on it . Maybe I'll start saving to buy a 400ex .

Looks like your buddy burried his bike pretty good in the sand . :p

The first pic of your buddy doing a stoppie uphill , I thought he came up short on the landing .... then I seen the others further down . :cool:

Didn't you have a trick YFZ at one time?
You need to bite the bullet and go to the dunes. You won't do it unless you set a date and go. If you go once you will be hooked for life.
That yellow 400ex in the pics is for sale. It is tricked out already too.

We stay in Rexburg at the hotels. We usually go out through the BLM site or Desert Oasis. Sandhills resort is way too far away from the big dunes for us.

ya it is a ways. we always send a truck around to the "pit stop" with gas cans etc. then we make the haul out there.....

We usually stay at Best Western,but this year(and last year) we decided to rough it for 5 days ...No shower is gonna KILL me!!...:scary: :o :p
Maybe Ill invest in a portable.

BLM has had alot done to it and is the best IMO for location and facilitties.

I forgot to mention.... The same wk end you were there,some freinds of mine went also that are locals.

A guy on a 400ex ,his quad I guess shut down while cresting Devils Dune, he didint roll down the dune, but a Sand rail toed him back t ocamp and the dude was going too fast for the the poor guy being Towed and sent him end over end going over a Dune:huh tehn the quad landed on his bank:( I guess he was banged up and bruised but he is OK and so is his quad.

QJ, have you ever stayed at Desert Oasis? The people that own it are very nice and don't bother you. Also, they have shower houses. The camping is cheap too, only $12/day.

$12 dollars a day, what the heck. I went to St A's the first weekend of April and it costed us $35 a day. That was including no showers because the pipes where frozen. We had to go rent a room at Best Western acouple of nights so we could take a shower. The owner there is nice, and doesn't bother you at all. I never saw people jumping off that when i was there. Looks like a pretty cool jump.

No, I dont want to camp that far away. Some of the group riders that come with us are on 2strokes and they will run low on fuel that far away;)

I heard BLM is getting Showers as well,just not sure if they have them yet or not.Hopefully we will have our RV for next year.
Besides... I like being right at Thunder Mountain for instant access!:blah:

Last year my Camera took a poop so it will be nice this year to get some good pics..I just hve to be careful not to get sand in it this time .:(

Ya I had a YFZ , but it wasn't too tricked out ... only had a couple parts on it ( no suspension work or engine mods) ... sold it last week and bought a 4x4 instead .

You guys are making me jealous with all these sand pictures . Closest thing that we have around here , is the local playground .... but the 5 year olds don't like having a quad roost them . :ermm: ;)

How much for the 400ex and what's it got done to it??
