right now i am running a Wiseco and the person who rebuilt my motor has been doing it since he was a kid (hes now around 40) and said all he ever uses is Wiseco, in everything, and ive seen his 350x, and its damn mint. But, ive heard of people saying they would not use wiseco, i forget why, but they used a different piston, but my wiseco has been holding up great.

i havent had anyproblems with wiseco pistons. had two in my quad, one for about 10 months then i tore it down for a big bore piston and its holding up fine.

the problem with the wisecos is that the compression ratios used to be a ways off. i have ran je, ross, and wiseco. i would get the je or ross again probably. if i had to do it all over again i would consider a CP piston.

yea, the ratios were off for 400ex's because it was the ratio for the xr400 and they have a thinner head gasket which rases the comp ratio, so teh 11:1 piston really had a ratio of like 10.8:1 or something

if i get a xr400 base gasket would that fix the problem?
thanks!

Yes,XR base gaskets fix the compression ratio.I am putting them in my 400ex with a standard bore piston and 11:1 comp.

I put in a je 10.8:1 and it runs great on both 93 octane and 110 which is nice when race gas isnt available but It runs great.

I ran a JE in my 416 and it ran strong until I ran out of oil. In my new 426 motor there is a wiseco and it also seems to run fine.
