Every aftermarket pipe I've seen is just plain too LOUD to use in populated areas...

If noise is an issue, stick with the stocker.. better to ride with the stock pipe, then not at all :(

in one of my old mags they say the stock 400ex pipe is good couldn't hardly be any better anyways. That is with that noise level. But it did say that you would want to look into one if you plan on upgrading your motor with a carb, higher compression, boring it out, ect.

They were talking about the head pipe. He wants to know about scilencers. I have heard the yoshi is a great pipe, and at 95db, it is loud, but not as loud as other aftermarket systems. The stocker is 88db.

ok I have another question then too, what is a slip on that everyone is talking about, am I the only one who doesn't know what it is?

you can get a slip on, or a full system. A full system contains head pipes, and a slip on is just the silencer.
