:D Since gas is getting out of control, and atv's are fun to ride on pavement,,, has anyone ever street legal'd your atv? Depending on your state, you dont need much to street legal your quad! There are kits for 45 bucks with horn, mirror, and signals. I would have a good time burning around the 450r in the city! Anyone know anyone that has done this?

man that sounds cool, too bad we couldn't do that up here in Canada, I don't think there is anyway we can make them street legal up here! and even if you did, you would spend 3/4 of your time be hounded by the police

its not even worth getting more info 450r51, the only way you can legally ride a quad(isnt even a quad anymore) in NY is to convert the rear end to a single tire swingarm setup(motorcycle). this is because trikes are legal(harley trikes, sidecars, etc) and it would be considered a trike since it would have 2 wheels in the front, one in the rear. i have only seen 2 of these and i know the work and time to get the project complete was extensive. your better off just getting a street legal dual sport or motard style dirtbike

The only way to register a quad is to use car or motorcycle parts. Absalutely NO! ATV parts are aloud unless you pay big money to arange a crash test to prove safe and then you will have to build another and even then you may have problems registering it. This is what i was told when i called the Number given to me by the DMV. I think it is a bunch of crap. if the gas prices go to 5 dollars by next year from what i am told then they need to start letting us ride our quads to work. There always seems to be a rule or regulation to prevent good ideas. its all about the government making money . just my opinion.

Yeah government taxes more then 40% on every gallon of gas sold.

Yes, ATVs can be street legal in Arizona, my 05 450r is... the only restrictions are that it needs a mirror (bicycle mirror), and horn (air horn zip tied to bars)... and of course the stock headlight and tailight. Turn signals are'nt required here. Oh yeah, and my insurance is dirt cheap, and it gets 37 MPG on the road... I get the wierdest looks from everyone on the road... and never hassled by the cops.
