so here's what happened

took off caliper mounting bolts
took off pad pins
removed pads
cleaned & lubed
compressied piston
installed new pads
installed pad pins
*didn't fit over rotor*

removed pad pins
removed pads
removed parking brake block off
compressed piston some more
installed pads
installed pad pins
fit over rotor
installed caliper mounting bolts

NOW....when i bolt the blockoff plate down, it hits the piston rod and locks the brakes up. i didn't have this problem when i first installed it, because my pads then were pretty worn and the piston rod didn't have to come back too far.

SO.... i'm thinking either nig-riggin' some kind of spacer for between the blockoffplate and caliper (worry about dirt and water)

OR..... dremel about 3/8" off the piston rod

what do you guys think?

thanks

i just cut to fit some thick cork gasket material. we'll see how that works.

Same here. A thin coating of scilicone on the mating surfaces may be a good idea.

Another option, if there is enoough material on the block off plate, drill a divot where the piston rod contacts the block off plate.

if the cork gasket doesn't cut it, i'll just do some cutting.
