the other day, i decided to get a full body skid. i noticed b4 that they were around $80 and i said forget that. i got a piece of aluminum about .1" thick, measured it out and drew the sizes out on the alum. i then cut it with a sawzaw, then drilled small holes through it, the screwed it to my frame w/ self tapping screws. took about 30 minutes and looks great! for some reason though, it has half of an arrow on it and the background is orange on one side, but dont worry, i got it at a hardwear store on the side of the road.:huh :D :devil

I paid 32.00$ for as sheet of 5/16 aluminum. That sheet was big enough to make a belly skid, a-arm gaurds and cover for my oil lines. I have not had any trouble with any of them.

By screwing into the frame, isn't that going to make it weaker? Especially if you put a lot of screws in it.

Thoose will not take big hits. for 20 bucks you can get a sheet of uhmw plastic. it is way stronger then aluminum, and it is slipperry. they use the stuff as a base for drag behind tralors on farms. because it is slick when you bottom out or hit something it just glides off. I had mine for a while and it don't have a scratch.

here's a pic of mine............kinda:rolleyes:

I used u-bolts to bolt it to the front of the frame and to the nerf bar mounts. Then some bolts with washers come through the stock mounts in the rear.

my dad made home made skids for my quad also. He used some aluminum and grinded it down so that it had those grind spirals, I have better pic of them but they shined so much it was just glare on the camera. I think he got the stuff free and when I had my blaster he made a checker plated skid plate and he bent a peice of checker plating into a pipe cover which looked very trick.

I had a DG belly skid once and the bolts rattled out, so I ziptied it one time at the track and the first time I bottomed the frame it ripped zip ties right off.
