What would you say is the best quad for problem free operation (longetivity, and least wrench demanding) specific MODELS and years please. How many quads have you owned in your lifetime, and which ones?

2000 Honda Foreman 450ES, never had a prob, and ran the dog**** out of her
HONDA 300 4x4 fourtrax or sport 400ex, 300ex, or 250ex. ranchers are good and so are foremans. u really should be fine with any honda

I'd have to say the 400ex and 300ex as far as sport quads go. Change the oil once in a while and they will last forever. The fourtrax300 was a great 4x4, don't see to many around though anymore.

For a utility quad, there is no doubt that the Honda 300 4x4 is the most reliable hands-down. For a sport bike, either the 300 or 400ex. Can't go wrong with either one.

400ex's are BULLET proof.

Honda 400EX or Honda Recon
My buddy has a 98 Recon that has been through hell and back. Not well maintained, been jumped extensively, rolled, you name it....starts everytime and runs perfect lol its impossible to kill :p
No offense......but I wonder if any other makes will make the list? hmm...:chinese:

I have raced my DVX for 2 years now and still have the stock piston in it, it has never given me any trouble till now, and its only a clutch plate.
And even though i'm not the biggest Honda fan, I would have to say the 400ex is the most reliable.

One of my friends has a honda 300 4x4, he ran the piss out of it, the only thing ever replaced on it was the tires, and a gasket. I had a 300ex for 3 years, and I couldn't kill that thing. 400ex's like everyone else has said are bullet proof.

We've had a 1986 Honda TRX 250 for the last 16 years . I have taken this quad to hell and back more than once and it still runs good . I have launched it off some pretty big jumps and it just took the beating and kept rolling . I never had a race quad when I was a kid , so this quad was my "sport" quad you can say . Always in top gear pinned to the bar .
I can't remember the last time we changed the oil .... I usually just add more to it . It's in need of a little freshening up , but she's lasted this long , I'm not gunna tear into the motor until she goes no more !!!
Looking back on how hard I rode this quad when I was a kid and having other quads since , I'd have to say this is the most reliable ATV I / we've ever had !!!

I NEVER had any thing on my 400Ex break unless I did somthing to break it. Their unbelieveably tough. Of course wear out parts need changed time to time, but every time id go out and start it, it would fire right up! I loved my 400.

For a Utility, a 1999-2000 Suzuki Quadrunner 500. Ive had one for 6 years now, and all i have had to do is put a choke cable on it.
as for a sport quad, i would say a 300/400ex, or the famous warriors, any year :)

Rancher 350 ES 4x4 is a workhorse in a half. Pulls and rides hard if you are an aggressive trail rider. Also most arctic cats are pretty reliable too, friend has a 300 2x4, and while it isn't fast, it held up two 17 year olds beating on it for 3 or 4 years now without missing the beat other than the carb needing to be cleaned and a few flat tires.

It doesn't help that this site is mainly Honda riders, and, at one time was completely honda not long ago.
So I guess you could say it's biased.

Hmm, so that's why my friend's "bullet" proof 250ex is sitting in the shop right now because it wont start?
Anyway, deff. 400ex or Warrior. I think like 60% of the kids that ride in my town have warriors, I've seen the beat to shiat and they still run fine.

I would have to say those yamaha warriors....those things have been around since 1987, they are bloody tough. Though tippy, they are quite fun and peppy, very affordable, and easy to maintain.
