View Full Version : valves on a rebuilt engine

my 400ex is ticking which im pretty sure means that i need to adjust my valves, the specefcations i heard was .004 for the intake and .005 for the exhaust, now i was wondering if that makes a differance if your enigne has been rebuilt. I dont think it would but im just checkin, thanx for the help.

It does make a difference what cam your useing. Is your cam still stock? If so, your specs are correct. Most aftermarket cams specify slightly looser clearences of .005 and .006.

I was assuming the cam was stock. Thanks for the info.
