Anyone know much about problems with transmissions 2nd gear makes a pretty distinct klunking sound almost like a loose chain but it is just in 2nd gear all the other gears are fine. shifts in and out fine and runs fine but it dosent sound too fine.

Yep, that's possible or it is just worn. 2nd gear is the most used and abused gear out of them all.

It is hard to say over the internet, we do not know what type of sound it is :ermm: Is it an abnormally loud klunk when shifting into 2nd? or does it klunk say when you hit the gas in 2nd gear? If just seems abnormal compared to how the other gears sound, then I would tear it apart and check it out. Could you maybe post up a video so we can hear it?

If you go up a slight incline, can you feel it? i had the same problem with a 250x. when i looked at the quad, the chain was shot, and the sprockets were missing a couple of teeth. i bought the bike, replaced the chain and sprockets, and second gear had a bump to it, physically and audibly (is that a word?). when i tore it down, second gear was completely missing 1 tooth (it was lying in the bottom of the trans.). i think it was $24 for the gear, but you have to split the cases, and THAT is a pain.
