View Full Version : Who's parking their quad ?

Mxjunkie
04-25-2006, 09:04 AM
I'm parking mine till the gas prices go down, I cant afford to run it anymore!

I have to run atleast 94 in mine 14-15 dollars, 10 dollars for oil so its almost 25-30 dollars everytime I want to ride.

I can use 5 gallons in 2 days of just messing around no problem, one day at rausch I use 5 gallons easy.. I guess I brought this on my self building a crazy arse motor :scary: I wanted to go to the breezewood ride but I cant put gas in the truck and the quad and such. I didnt mind when gas was 2.50 etc but now that it's 3.25 and still going, hell with it... I'll pick up bmx till they go down..

Oh well.. Here the quad sits for awhile, Anyone else parking their quads?
:grr:

Might as well just sell it, gas isn't going down.

im not parking mine but im definitly slowing down on random solo rides that i take here and there. im just going to save my gas for when i have plans with friends. although the gas doesnt influence my quad riding much, the prices are really pushing me to look into a dual sport/motard style bike when i graduate high school next year to get around town and commute to college if needed.
edit:i dont see gas going down on price ANY time in the future:(

I see it this way, Things have been going good for so long, the goverment needs to have a recession happen to reset everything. I watched President Bush live today talking about gas and how it's taxed for the research of ethanol and such.

I've herd it'll be almost 4-5 bucks by 4th of july though :(

He can say they will go down cause when gas prices are high, our whole economy is terrible!!!!!!!!!!! So the government will do everything they can to make them go down, to bring the economy back up.

for the price im paying for 93 at the pump, i have just started running 110 octane full time now its only 45 cents more !! smells better also

I sold my expedition because of fuel prices. I went from having an enclosed trailer, a nice vehicle to ride in to the races, to having an s-10 ext cab big down grade in vehicle, but huge upgrade in fuel mileage s-10 for the win

s-10 24mpg
expedition 8mpg towing the enclosed.

As long as I can still get fuel I'll always ride.

I don't ride a lot, so it doesn't matter to me how much I ride my quad. We used to be able to drive our quads IN TOWN. Awhile back there were a few people in our county riding quads on the highway at night with their lights off, long story, but one eventually ended up getting killed. Since then, our county has put a ban on quads on roads, threatening with a $500 fine. Before that happened, I could drive down main street and have the cop wave at me as I drove by. If I could still drive my quad in town, I would just drive it around instead of my truck.

Im thinking of investing in a WR450 so that i can do onroad, offroad riding and save a ton of money !!

Yeah man those enduro bikes are badass! At dutchmen the guys on the 400s and 650s ride to the track, race and ride home. It would be something well worth the money thats forsure!

YEP

How many guys with 12K quads will park them for gas $1/gallon more? Heck the fuel I run is right at $7/gallon anyway. I think there are MANY other ways to cut here and there to allow extra money for the rise in gas prices if you REALLY want to ride. But if you're lookin for excuses to park the quad, I guess this could be one.

04-25-2006, 09:38 AM
i will never park it or my jeep. yeah gas aint cheap, but i dont see it dropping anytime soon so might as well just suck it up and empty the wallet. i am actually swithcing to race fuel full time this summer, it isnt much more around here than premium. $3.50 for 93, i can get 110 for $4.50, another place has it for $5.50, or i can get Klotz 113 for $9.00.

if you can afford the quad, a few bux for gas shouldnt hurt...

and this would be a good place to list this:

i have 4 $100 BP gas cards and 2 $100 speedway gas cards... will sell them for $85 each or $500 for all 6 of them.... need money to put into my new 450r:)

Switching to Amsoil 50:1 for 20 dollars a gallon vs. honda HP oil at 32:1 at 7 dollars a quart will save me some money. And I don't really ride enough with how buissy I am. When I have school, between sports, girlfriend, and this rain that I have been having here I am lucky If I get to ride once or twice a week for a couple hours. 18 bucks every 2 weeks is nothing compared to the gas I go through in my car.

04-25-2006, 10:17 AM
I pay $7.75/gallon for gas in my quad...that should make you feel better...:bandit:

Gas prices definately isn't going to stop me from riding. I run vp 106 anyway which is $5.95 a gallon. Mr. Bush is suppose to have a press conference today about the cost of fuel so we will see where this goes?????????????

Curious...if gas prices keep rising, and say, people stop buying ATVs because of it, will the price of ATVs rise? Is it possible if in 10 years a 90 would be the price of a 250ex etc...

i am not giving up my quad over a few more dollars per tank in the quad. now the truck on the other hand...ill be pulling a trailer less. and putting it in the bed alot more. i am lucky i can pay for my gas in town with a company gas card and my pops 'sponsors' me with one reciept for deisel each time i race.

That thing is 10x more fun then anything else i've ridden. Its not good for big jumps or going fast, but when it comes to racing your buddies in the backyard where anything goes, they are so rediculously fun. My friends and I ride all day during the summer trying 360s and stuff then we race around my little track and clean eachother out and stuff. It's so fun its crazy. I rode 6 hours a day for 7 days untill the tank was out of gas.

So that last me a while.of course my bike burns it really fast,so well see how that works out. I duno if the racing fuel went up also, such as ultimate 2,ultimate 4,alky? anyone know>?

No, it was a 455. It had two batteries just to start the engine! It had tons of low end, good for working, but I think they discontinued it because of either a. lack of popularity or reliability issues.

the gas prices aren't going to go down anytime soon and the gov't won't do anything to stop it. The gov't is making a killing in the taxes. if the price jumps to 4$ a gallon (probably) over the 2$ a gallon last year the gov't would be getting double in the taxes from gas, 100% increase in ta revinue. Think about how much gas everyone buys. That's just too much money for the gov't to pass up, so it's screwing all of us until politicians start losing elections.

Bush just announced today he is stopping filling up the US reserve so there will be a larger supply so it will be going down some. It went down 25 cents already. My gas tank is only about 2.5 gallons I can ride all day for 7 bucks! Thats nothing compared to what other stuff cost. Man try snowmobling 13 gallons plus oil for one tank. and fill up 3 times in a day:eek2:

We are not letting the fuel prices keep us from riding, however,we have made a few adjustments to our summer schedule of riding trips.

Lwrider20 and I ride our quads on the street all the time. (his YFZ & mine a new LT-R) Living in AZ makes it much easier. Here it only takes a mirror, brake light & horn to get a license plate for the street (liability insurance also). Not sure what the fuel mileage is but we can ride for hours around Phoenix, Glendale, Peoria Sun City and all over the N/W Valley here on a tank of gas. We get all kinds of stares but knock on wood, we haven't been pulled over or ticketed yet. The only way fuel will keep me from riding is if it is flat out NOT AVAILABLE. Otherwise, I just pay to play.

also, just buy GAS at gas stations.... they make a KILLIN on all the candy and crap people buy in there, if people wont buy anything but gas because the $$ of gas, it will lower it too.

F*** that!! I just got my R about two months ago after selling my waverunner. I have to run race fuel in my R and I think that is cheap compared to how much my waverunner cost to run. I know nobody will believe me but last summer I was going through $100 of gas a DAY to run that thing! I guess thats what will happen with a Yamaha GP1200R triple carb...fastest one on the lake but most expensive to run. (And it was stock!)

$22.50 for 5 gallons of race fuel

During this winter my family snomobiles and we have to fill 3 sleds. On most days we have to fill up 3 times at about $50 per fill up. At this rate we can easily spend over $300 just filling up the sleds. Then comes the 300 mile round trip and our Yukon pulling the sleds gets about 12-14 mpg.

Talk about getting screwed.

$22.50 for 5 gallons of race fuel
+ $8.00 quart of Amsoil
