my sons 300ex died last weekend and we were thinking about the 250r conversion and where wundering about racing it. would it still be legal for the under 350cc beginner class.
if not what class would he be in. and yes he wants a 2 stroke like mine. but he hates blasters with a passion.

i seen a worked blaster engine in a 250R frame once. it ran good and handled great. and i know it works in the smaller racing classes.

o and the 250R conversion is for a 400EX frame...

outta curiosity why do you guys hate blasters??

I'm not sure if you would be able to still race that in that class. Even if you did get away with it I bet it wouldnt last long. Parents would be protesting, and you would get kicked out fast.

it all matters if they have production rules or not. If there are no production rules, then you should be ok, but yes, parents would be protesting, but it wont do anything.

parents would only protest if u won all the time on it.... technically a rolling R is a lil heavier then a rolling blaster too so i dont think they would say much

if you ran nationals you would have to run the 265 classs which includes 250r's, and all the 450 4 stroke quads. most local tracks would make you do the same thing because the 250r motor makes so much more power than a blaster or 300ex. cool idea but not much good for organized racing.

i was trying to talk him into a blaster but he doesnt like the way they look or some thing:rolleyes: But we were just considering the 250r motor swap becouse we already have the motor. We where looking at the blaster motor in the 300ex chassis but i was also looking at a 125 2stroke dirt bike engine. My mane consern is keeping it legal for the class and keeping it rideable. He's 14 and a little to inexperianced for the bigger stuff for now.

with the 125cc 2 strike dirt bike motor it is still not legal in youth production as it has to be a production quad. also not legal in youth 90cc modified, biggest dirt bike 2 stroke motor you can run in a quad frame is 90cc. save yourself a lot of headaches and fix the 300 or buy him a blaster.
