What year is this?

I have an 80 dirt bike and i am trying to find out what year it is.
Does anyone know how to read the code on the engine case or the code on the frame?

there should be a sticker sayin the day month and year it was made if not take the serial nuber off the motor and the frame cause both could be differ years and take them to the same type dealer that the bike was sold at like if it was honda dirt bike take it ot a honda dealer or call them up
thats what i had to do to a motor in my car
but i dunno obut a bike but prety sure they be able ot look it up for ya if they aint lazy :rolleyes:

I may be wrong but look at the last two digits on the serial number, that should be the year.

Take the vin # that is on the frame and lool at the 10th digit. I think that 1980 is/ or they starte with A and 81 is B, 82 C, and so on. if it is before 1980, you will have to go to the dealer with the vin #. All quads and motorcycles have this code with the 10th digit telling the year. The last 6 digits just tell you with number unit that you have of that model.

man i found something for that too. it was a little vin decode sheet. post the number and ill try and find it again for you
