tighten her up real good and then make a line from the skinny nut to the axle. it helps in re alining the axle again later eventualy it will stop moving so much but alot of ppl just get fed up and by an aftermarket locknut.

Wrapping them in electrical tape works.

Yes the tape will work, but the first time you take a stock axle nut off, throw it in the garbage where it belongs. They always loosen on you if you don't tape them. Mine actually stripped on itself when I had to replace a swingarm. The stupid thing just spun and spun, I was very close to cutting that huge mofo off, glad I didn't have to because it's so thick. You won't be so happy if yours strips like mine did.

$35 gets you a nice dual pinchbolt lock nut from RAD. I've tightened mine 1 time with no wrench required. Just need allen keys. It's a heck of a lot easier to deal with when doing axle/swinger work now.

I have a 99' ex and have had the rear end apart several times for bearings, and cleaning and have always used red loctite and two 36" pipe wrecnhes to torque it down and have never had any problems. And race harescrambles and GNCC's all year.
Either I have some really magnum loctite or ya'll just need some BIGGER wrenches and put a little more arse into it

after you think its tight, drive around the yard a cupple laps, making some sharp right turns. the tighten it again.

or sometimes tighten it, then tap it with a hammar. Then re-tighten it.

I put electrical tape on mine.
