Son's ex needs motor

Last week, at Jawbone (CA), my son's 400ex stopped running. Motorcycle City tells me that it's not 'cost effective' to fix all the damage (apparently, there is sand inside the egine).

They tell me that they cannot just put a new crate engine in the bike, they would need to fix every damaged part in the old engine, which would be expensive.

I bid on a motor on ebay, but was out-bid.

Does anybody know where I can get another complete engine for an '02 400ex?

My son is not a happy camper right now.

I have a 2001 426 motor with a wiseco 12:1 piston and stage 2 hotcam. Also has a DP clutch. Runs excellent and has less than 10 hours on the rebuild.

Sounds great, but I just bought one. It's a 2000 with a 440 kit from ebay.

I'll keep your message, though, in case this doesn't work out for some reason.
