HELLO i am looking for info from any one that has but a 450r motor in a 400ex frame.not a crf450!!. i am getting ready to do this i have everything i think i will need. rad wiring etc.eng on its way.frame mounts look to be about the same width and in the same places. i would like to here from someone that has done this so i know what obsticals i will run into. i have way to much in this quad with suspension and other things to abandon. so far it has cost me about $2200 for everything from engine to all the electrics to the cooling. i cant by a 450r with the suspension my 400 has for under $4000 so even if it cost me $3000 total at end i will still have a very nasty machine. any info greatly appreciated thanks rustee.........

Some one on here had a good step by step tread,I can`t remember who.
It was a CRF engine in a ex frame.
Can anyone help remember where to find it?

it is finished and it can be done. i think more easely than the crf conversion. it took me about a week on and off to get the lower mounts done than the powder coater. runs un beleivable!!! the motor was out of gil attix pro rider bike 2005 tc motor from eastcoast atv. this thing flys. dont know to get any pics up here though every time i try nothing comes out mabee some body can help me with that so you can see a little of what it looks like. thanks ss440 ex for the advice . rustee....

hello ingleful #5

if you can get a decent motor resonably cheap go for it just plan to have every thing on hand you think you will need electrics /exhuast/cooling system and a welder or a good freind etc. it really wasnt that bad and it looks like you have a bit tied up in your machine already .you wont pick up a 450r in race ready condition for 3000.00. either way there are only a couble of these around and people wonder what the hell is that ! its great. good winter project. thanks for the compliment rustee.....

kind of curious did sparks already have the dimensions for the exhausts? or did you have to trial and error it? ive head 400exr are way better than 450rs just because of the way the frame is set up how dose it stack up??

I like the 400EX geometry better, have ridden both with suspension and still like the 400EX.

is it normal to lust after something like that? cause well, damn i sure like that flashy bike, and it looks well made to boot. im thinking of selling my jeep and buying a GOOD turbo kit hopefully for under 1700.00, or hybred. any thoughts?

I would just do the 450R hybrid, more reliable.
