I am thinking about buying an 05 450r with an athena(not sure on spelling) 480 kit on it, it also has a curtis sparks pipe on it. How will the power compare to an 06 450r with a curtis sparks pipe.

id get the 06 for reliability (minus the estart, ull have problems with that prob.) but the 480 will be A LOT faster

I have no problem eating up 06's with my 05 480 and as far as reliability mine runs like a champ with no problems. Its a total bolt on kit and the athena cylender has bigger water jackets with a wider cylender wall than a bored out stock cylender. So just depends on what you want , your going to half to keep up with the maintenance on both bikes, I would not worry about the 480 being unreliable unless it was put together wrong.

Does athena have a website and how much does the bolt on kit cost?

what kind of hp does the 480 kit make. If i buy a stock 450, do u just bolt this kit on or will i need to have it ported, and do you need a larger carb or will the stock one work with just jetting changes.

For HP not sure have not seen the dyno yet but if I had to guess mine is in the low to mid 50's. Putting this kit on your bike would be no different than changing out a piston on your stock 450R. Just put the athena piston and cylender on in place of the stock ones. I ported mine because I wanted to get the full potential the kit had to offer, now I'm thinking of going bigger on the valves but its not nesisary, you will still feel a nice power difference. Your stock carb will work fine with the proper jetting, I'm running a 40mm eldlebrock and it has no problem keeping up.
