Are you looking for a street bike or crotch rocket? There is a difference.

If you want the best of both worlds - crotch rocket engine and comfortable position of a normal bike, I would suggest something like the Yamaha FZ-6. Same engines as Yamaha's 600 crotch rocket yet the rider position is very comfortable, no hugging the tank.

I would urge you to buy a standard or naked bike also. The crotch rocket riding position looks cool but isn't much fun on long rides. Plus the insurance can be a problem in more ways than one.

i think the best all around bikes out right now are the SV650's...if you want a 600 crotch rocket look into the suzuki GSXR or honda F4's
are you looking to go new or used? are you a beginner?

if you're looking for a crotch rocket go with the ninja 600. They have been out forever and relatively cheap with plenty of parts available.

Yea, don't let a new rider ride a liter bike. They will kill themselves in a heart beat. :o

You really need to check into insurance before you buy anything. I am an insurance agent and if you pick up a bike like 4punksdad it will be quite a bit cheaper than an actual crotch rocket! Just wanted to throw that in there!

i just recently got a 96 honda cbr 600 f3 and love the bike easy to get used to handles pretty well and u can find them for cheap
older bikes are cheaper on insurance as well and there is no such thing as a crotch rocket as a particular bike its a sport bike , crotch rocket is just another name alot of ppl use

go to a dealership and sit on some of the new ones. very uncomfortable! the seats plain suck. i dont mind the riding position, but it does put a lot of strain on you during long rides. get a used bike, like an r6 or a gsxr600. parts are plentiful on ebay for when you wreck, and they are both comfortable and reliable. just my 2 cents

wrecks happen! but the availibility of parts and the expense to replace is something to think about. i love twisties, and things happen. wrecks, even with the right gear can be bad. know what happens when your body tries to go under a guard rail? doesnt work, there are cases where the person got decapitated. i have two close friends that died from wrecks, and one parapalegic. but, wear the gear! jeans dont take well to asphalt either... gloves, riding pants, jacket, and a good helmet (not one that you wrecked in before either) as far as insurance, if you can buy the bike outright and get liability, insurance is very cheap. but if you have to get full insurance... if you want some bike advice, check out sportbikescene.com its one of my friends site, very small but we are all good friends and most of us have been riding for quite some time and have good advice.

Whats your opinion on a Ninja 250? I work at a dealer and we have a used one for $1600. I only really want it because I drive 25 miles to work one way...I would think it would really cut down on my gas usage. Also being a 250 the insurance wont be bad at all either.

If you're getting a 600 class crotchrocket it's either the CBR600RR or the Kawisaki Ninja. No question about it.

killen them all

I got this ninja250 for my wife about a year ago. It handles well, but the thing likes to be revved to the moon to get any power or speed out of it. I got it used with about 800 miles on it for $1900 I think.

as for the guy who mentioned uncomfortable seats on new bikes...........I recommend www.gelseat.com. They do quad seats too.

4punks- have you tried the gel seats? i love the way the new bikes feel in the corners but they are horrible to ride because of the uncomfortable seat. i am comfy with my 750 but the newer bikes...

yeah......I did both seats on my z-1000 since they were very flat & hard. WWW.gelseat.com is right down the road from me. He is a super nice guy.
