does anybody know how much HP a stock KTM 520 motor has. I have searched and found alot of information on building my hybrid but no HP information thank-you

I think its around 60hp. My friend on here built a 250r hybrid with that engine in it. You can PM him i think his name is 400ex87 or 400ex78

yeah i remember hearing somewhere around 60 too (most people say 57-66 or so). that isnt the special part of the motor though, what really makes it great is its massive torque

I am building a quad with this engine also, almost finished.

Not quite sure on the HP my guess would be between 50 and 60. The power on this engine is supposed to be really smooth though. Like it doesn't have a snappy powerband or anything. In fact, I was told that when you first ride something with this engine, the power can trick the rider into thinking the engine feels weak because the power is so smooth.

Oh yeah, if you try KTMtalk just don't tell them you ride a quad. Those guys really hate quads. They will bash you for riding a quad, and they will bash you for taking one of their precious orange motorcycles apart.

i would say 58 stock..thats the most concrete answer i have heard. mine has the high comp. piston, powernow system, tc shorty exhaust. i love it! throttle response is instant. i rode mine, than a buddies ltr450 right aftet..and throttle response was almost identical! motor position worked out great for mine also. doesent like to wheelie alot goes flat out goes!!! its crazy around corners though...ask 450r51 he was the other to ride it.

I have been told that the '04 525SX motorcycles dynoed 54hp at the rear wheels. I would say that the older 520SX's were around 52hp. The EXC's and MXC's would be slightly less than that due to less agressive ignition mapping and cam profiles. I think the bore and stroke is a little different on the EXC's and MXC's versus the SX ( I don't know that for a fact). I do know that the '03 SX had the hottest cam. The '04 SX (the one I have) had less cam but a bigger 41mm intake tract to match the 41mm carb. Like somebody said before, you can't judge these engines on paper. You must ride one to feel the difference. The acceleration is purely brutal. I don't know what the torque numbers are, but I'm sure they are very high compared to the 450's.
