no 4th gear

My buddy has a 04 450r and the 4th gear went when you shift into fourth it just revs? I was just wondering if anybody had this problem he took it to a dealer they said they got to tear everything apart, and every other gear goes smooth!

yep. he stripped that gear in the tranny. the pieces will prob. be all throughout the tranny so they will have to completely dissassemble it. BIG PITA

I've done that but it was third gear. I broke all the dogs off the back of the gear stuff went all over cases broke and general mayhem unleashed inside my honda. I'm willing to bet that you're friend isn't much luckier. You will want to tell him to open a charge account at the dealer becuase it will not end up being cheap.

Would something like this be covered under warranty? My quad's been missing 4th alot too. No matter how hard I shift, it still does it periodically?

I'm not trying to steal this thread, I figured some others would want to know too. Sorry.
