View Full Version : rear linkage - does this look right?

The arm that mounts to my swingarm seems to be riding all the way to one side. There's no play in it, but I'm concerned because it's rubbing against the swingarm and looks like its just starting to wear some material away. Is this normal??? Is the bushing too far to one side? Is there a spacer missing or incorrectly installed? It's never been apart yet.

That is common on the Hondas.
Your rear shock linkage has bearings pressed into them and a collar that rides inside of that. That collar allows for some side to side movement.

So is this normal then? The link doesn't have any side to side play in it nor does it ever move to the other side.

Pull it out and check it. Grease it up, reinstall and see what happens. If it's never been removed it may need some grease to get it moving.

ITS EASY to pull out and remove man. take it out and then you can see what is going on. Greas it up while your at it. Thanks for that help in my thread too about the jetting stuff. ;)

mine does that too, only it moves back and forth between rides.

I pulled the linkages and shock out and cleaned and greased everything. Now things are good. I thought there was a fixed bearing in the linkage that wasn't seated properly but the rollers and sleeves were just dirty. thanks.

Sorry i forgot to mention that Yes indeed it is normal. Like suggested you can take it apart and apply some WATER PROOF marine grease to the bearings and re-install the linkages.
