i have a 400ex (2001) i am trying to remove the axel. i took everything off besides the brake stay.i cant get the axel through the other side. if someone can send me a detailed version of getting the axel out i would appreciate it thanks.

well the brake stay has to be removed cause there is a snap ring on the outside. Try taking that off and then sliding it through.

remove tires,remove left hub,loosen locknut to get to the snap ring off,after that remove the locknut,rear brakes then brake hub, take your chain off, and if it doesn't come out very easy use a rubber hammer and knock it through.
