I have been thinking about doing the same thing only using the rattle can spray in bedliner.(I'm cheap LOL) The only thing I am worried about is making sure the holes for the nets don't get plugged up. I'm not sure if masking tape will do the trick or not.

I think it's a great idea and it should hold up even better than powdercoat. Anyways let us know how it turns out if you decide to have it done.

We put the paint on liner on my open trailer and its held up really nicely ,we done it so avoid rusting.

WE will try and figure out a solution on the hole pluggin, we were thinking the same as you . I think it would be very durable !

The only possible solution I can come up with for plugging the holes is using some pieces of rubber cut to fit. I'm not sure how easy it will be to get them out after spraying on the bedliner stuff though. I thought about spraying the plugs with silicone lube so they don't stick to the bedliner stuff.

The only other possibility is to mask off the whole bracket that the nets go through and leave them in raw aluminum but I'm not sure how good it would look.

Let me know if you come up with anything better.

Heck just leave the nets in and mask them off about an 1/8" away, and cover the rest of it before spray. The only time you will take them out is to replace them. Then cut em' off and the hole will be clean then re spray...;)

For plugging the holes, you could use a few things. Cork could be one option, another could be wax, masking tape, What does Pappy use to keep out of the holes in powdercoating??

I think it would be a good Idea about the Rhino Lining though, If it works, you could use it on bumpers, Nerfs, and Grab Bars as well. Try it!

Not to mention it comes in colors now too....

roll up paper to plug the holes....roll it, insert it ...and when you let it go it will expand to the hole size:p

it may work very well...not sure how hard it will be to get off when its time to redo it but you can always send them here to be burned off.

Maybe try smearing a small amount of grease on those areas so the paint doesn't stick. Then using a utility knife or exacto blade, cut off the liner thta is undesired after it dries.

The paper sounds like it would work and be much less time consuming than my rubber plug dea. :o

i have 2 trucks with rhino linear and i dunno how it would hold up...

if a sharp object hits it... it can sometimes rip it and peal it up... i've had it happen 3 times now... once was from sliding in my quad ramps... once was from a metal pipe for my race tent... and the other one was from a log catchin it on the corner... its a lifetime warranty thou so you just take it back and they fix it on the truck... i dunno if they'd fix a nerf bar thou every week from gettin hit by rocks and other quads... being u ride alot of sand QJ u maybe ok thou:ermm:

My work deals with all aftermarket truck acc. and we use Vortex sray in bedliner, it is better then the rhino stuff it dosent fade and holds up better. I am goin to do my a-arms and swinger, i just hope it dont add alot of weight.

my buddy runs a Rhino Lining shop and small tubular things like nerfs are hard to make them look very good. He has done several 4 wheeler racks and pre-runner bumpers on trucks and they look "ok" but from seeing your quads I don't think they would look that great just because Rhino has a funny consistency to it. As far as looks go ( and he hates me for saying this ) the Line-X liners look much better and I think would hold up better for that application. They have a much finer grain look and texture to them and its alot harder than Rhino ( where Rhino has more of a gripping rubbery feel ). Line-X would be like black texture powdercoat on steroids :macho

I was just going to say this. I wouldn't use Rhino Lining.....rather I would use Line-X for nerfs or bumpers. The Rhino lining is much more rubbery and prone to tearing than Line-X. Line-X is not as grippy, but has much finer textured appearance more like silica sand particles rather than the "cottage cheese" texture the Rhino Lining has. I would only use the Rhino Lining in a truck bed where a highly non-slip surface is the priority. On a quad, the harder material Line-X would be the best route to go ;)

I could have used any color also with the Vortex, but i would have had to pay for it or wait, and i wanted black anyways, matches my bike.

i use to work at a line x shop and i'll agree line-x over rhino. rhino will tear up in no time. line x is actually easy to remove to if you need to. as far as holes line x won't stick to duct tape. they also have a tape with a thin wire in it that will cut through the material for triming nice edges and what not.

i am going to be doing mine within the next 2 weeks, i am going to use the stuff in a can. i will post picks and let u know how they hold up.

the only thing im concernd about is my pro pegs im going to have to tape them off so i can file them. i just hope it dosent look bad with those painted and the rest bed liner

looks pretty good, I sanded mine real lightly and then used a self edgeing primer, before spraying, i just seen in a mag 2day they now make a clear spray along with colors.

exrider008

that looks like it would hold up good. what color is that it looks like black in some picks and silver in the others.
