Im looking into gettin a 440 kit for my 400ex and i dont really know what is all involved in the process of installing it...i probably wont do it, ill have mymechanic do it but what is the highest compression i can run 93 octane pumped gas with? and also what kind of power differences should i see from the kit? ill eventually get a hotcams for it but for now just the 440. also what kind of price do you think it should run me for the kit and where would be the best plac to get the kit. thanx

the highest comp u can run is 11:1

u will see a huge gain but u will notice that it will not rev as fast as it did before but it will have tons of torque

mike....can it....im a broke as 15 year old....im not gettin a 450....anyway....any other input on the 440?

How much ya got to spend? I'd want an aftermarket rod if I was running high compression, I don't pay too much attention to the 440s, they seem to be alot higher maintenance, and you should use heavy duty head studs, better valves, I'm not the one to ask about 440s though.

It's your decision, though. I've heard their not very reliable with a 440...
