stock '05 450r vs stock '06 450r

Two of my buddies just bought new 450r's. One bought and 05 and one an 06. They each had about 2 hours of riding on them when drag raced them. The 05 would walk away by about 2-3 bikes in about 300 ft with a 35lb heavier rider on it. Has anybody else experienced this. Is this common. We then took the baffle out of the pipe, the airbox lid off and jetted it up on the 06 and it would beat the bone stock 05 by about a bike. My girlfriends 05 with a full exhaust, filter, FCR carb will put 4-5 bikes on it. I dont know if he should take it back to the dealer or not.

To me, it sounds like rider skill is involved. A stock '06 is supposed to be faster than a stock'05....hands down.

They switched quads and everything. I jumped on my buddies 06 and I am 80lbs lighter than the guy on the 05. The 05 then barely edged out the 06 still. I even got him out of the hole and have been drag racing for numerous years. It is not rider error.

i dont think at after 2 hours the bike is broken in too well. Alot of bikes open up alot more after they are broken in

We thought the same thing but rode the whole weekend, probably between 10-12 hours and nothing changed. :(

same thing happened to me saturday my 06 vs my buddies 05 they were neck to neck I would get him he would get me. I would of expected to of whacked him. and the same 04 I raced that night tore us both up and the only thinkg he did to his quad was take off the front fenders. and I know its stock its my best friend of 10 years. so I dunno if its a factory sleeper or what but he would beat me by like 3 quads no porblem. and he beats the crap outta that thing on a regular basis sooooo......

Do any of them have the HRC kit? That would account for alot of difference.

One 450R may run alot stronger then another.. Ones motor may be balanced alot better then another and clearances could be tighter.. some motors just run stronger then each other.

this occured with a friend of mine...he had a stock 05 and his friend had a stock 06 and the 05 beat him contiounsly by a few lengths at least...but i am going to race my stock 06 this weekend against him, he now has a piped 05..so we will see exactly what happens and then i'll update the results

Same. I have a piped and cammed 05 and a 06 waiting for a HRC kit. Results and opinions will be posted on both quads after performing various types of riding and racing.

Make sure to let me know which one is faster with the hrc kits on them. My buddy is thinking about getting one for his 06.

i promise you the 06 with the HRC kit is WAY faster than the 05 with the HRC.

Mine was about equal to an 04 with cam n hmf slip
