i live in ct do alot of trail riding and i found a 01 ds650 and the first thing that came to mind was wow thats a good price (3000) but i thought that the motor would go on it really quick because its a 01 and a bombardiar, and i do alot of trail riding and i thought it may have to much torq but it would be good, and i want to do some small jumps that r in my woods and friends track. So i was wondering if its worth getting.

OK dont even let me post first? speak for your self..

I rode a ds650 they are big but have very nice lowend grunt if you ride in wide open places I would get it but in tight woods it would be a pain in the arse if you have you pick it up.. For some reason ever since they have came out I have had a soft spot for em..

Just curius, what is it that makes them so heavy? Are te frames overdone or is everything just beefy? I wanted one at one point, but that was before I really knew anything about quads.

If you have ever looked at one you would instantly know that they are tank-like; however, the older ones are bigger than the new ones. I have rode one and have to say its pretty quick, but I would have been screwed if I would have got stuck.

Me = no lifting the DS

i rode one last week at a yamaha dealer, he was asking to much for it, it rode really well and fit me perfect, im 6'3 220lbs so i felt comfortable on it. It would be too big for the trails i ride so i decided not to get it
