2006 GNCC "Big Buck" Round #4- Morning Race Coverage

Chris Borich and Dawn came out to watch the start.

[WOOLIN]

Stephanie Parton was ready to race. She is still looking for her first win of the season, but a good finish will be an improvement over the DNF at Steel Creek.

[WOOLIN]

Traci has won 3 in a row, and she was hoping to make it 4 in a row with Yamaha's PR Manager, Steve Nessl in attendance.

[WOOLIN]

Ashley Whaley has been steadily improving this year. She will be running up with the front of the pack in no time.

[WOOLIN]

Angel Atwell was trying to improve on her 2nd place finish at Steel Creek. Some bad luck there may have cost her the win. She is 2nd in the points behind Traci.

[WOOLIN]

The riders stood for the National Anthem as the race was about to begin.

[WOOLIN]

Stephanie Parton grabbed the holeshot as the rest of the class was hot on her heels.

[WOOLIN]

Rounding the first turn Angel and Jennifer Fulkerson slide past Stephanie on the outside.

[WOOLIN]

Angel came around the 6 mile marker in the lead.

[WOOLIN]

Traci had to fight through the dust on the first lap in 2nd place, but then the rain would start coming down and make it really slick by the 2nd lap.

[WOOLIN]

Stephanie was close behind in 3rd position.

[WOOLIN]

Jennifer Albright had moved up to the 4th spot.

[WOOLIN]

Stephanie Verkade rounded out the top 5.

[WOOLIN]

Half way thru the 2nd lap Traci had overtaken Angel for the lead.

[WOOLIN]

Angel was only a few seconds back in 2nd.

[WOOLIN]

Jennifer Fulkerson moved into the 4th spot ahead of Albright and Verkade.

[WOOLIN]

Kristen Atwell moved up to 6th.

[WOOLIN]

Near the end of the 2nd lap Angel trailed Traci by about 10 seconds.

[WOOLIN]

Stephanie followed close behind. With only 16 seconds separating the top 3 the race was anybodies to win.

[WOOLIN]

Jennifer Fulkerson was running in 4th but had some problems and would only finish 2 laps.

[WOOLIN]

Stephanie Verkade was in 5th position.

[WOOLIN]

Jennifer Albright fell back to 7th.

[WOOLIN]

Angel made the pass on Traci to take the lead.

[WOOLIN]

Traci’s quad was bogging down and she was struggling to keep pace.

[WOOLIN]

Stephanie was right on her heels.

[WOOLIN]

With a fresh set of goggles she was ready for the dash to the finish.

[WOOLIN]

Angel came out the woods in first place. She crossed the line for the win and the overall.

[WOOLIN]

Traci’s quad was still losing power and she couldn’t hold off Stephanie any longer.

[WOOLIN]

Stephanie made the pass right before the finish line to take 2nd.

[WOOLIN]

As Traci crossed the line she looked back to see what was wrapped around her axel.

[WOOLIN]

A barbed wire fence got tangled around her axel and when it got wrapped around her heel guard it pulled it back into the tire.

[WOOLIN]

You could tell Traci was a little bit disappointed with her bad luck at Big Buck. Still a podium finish is much better than no finish.

[WOOLIN]

Stephanie was happy to finish ahead of Traci and gain backs some of the points she lost in the last round.

[WOOLIN]

The lady of the day was Angel Atwell with her first win of 2006. Congratulations Angel!

John Gallagher edges out Ken Vickerd for the holeshot

[WOOLIN]

Harlen Foley was running the new Yamaha Raptor in the sportsman class for this race. Harlen got tangled with Michael Newsom on the start.

[WOOLIN]

By the 6th mile marker John Gallagher was in the lead.

[WOOLIN]

Ken Vickerd was right on his tail and would make the pass for the lead.

[WOOLIN]

Harlen moved up right behind them.

[WOOLIN]

Followed by Richard Martin and George Richards.

[WOOLIN]

Ken had only a 6 second lead on John by the end of the 2nd lap.

[WOOLIN]

Harlen had moved up into the top 10 overall.

[WOOLIN]

Harlen got around Ken and set his sights on the possible podium finish.

[WOOLIN]

John made the pass on Ken on the last lap to take home another win on his Polaris Outlaw.

[WOOLIN]

Ken and John battled back and forth all morning and he finished only 3 seconds behind him in 2nd.

[WOOLIN]

Harlen was grinning ear to ear wit a 5th place overall on his first race of the season. I guess he liked the Raptor.

[WOOLIN]

Jim Stack brought out a Heavy Weight Championship Wrestling belt for the beginning of the season. It goes home with the race winner at each event. Jim lost the belt in Florida but he was ready to win it back with the help of Cardio Stack.

[WOOLIN]

Brock Parker has the belt currently and wasn’t going to give it up with out a fight.

[WOOLIN]

Scott Kilby would love to have the win at Big Buck and take the belt home with him. With the win in Florida and 3 2nd place finishes Scott is out to a big points lead.

[WOOLIN]

Brock Parker gets the holeshot with Cliffton Beasley and Scott Kilby right behind him.

[WOOLIN]

Kilby takes the lead as Parker and Beasley battle for 2nd.

[WOOLIN]

Brock Parker was out of the race which allowed Scott Kilby to take the lead half way through the first lap

[WOOLIN]

Stack got passed Kilby on lap 2 to take the lead. He really started to pull away from the rest of the class. He opened up over a minute lead on 2nd place.

[WOOLIN]

Beasley had some major problems on lap 2 and dropped back all the way to 9th.

[WOOLIN]

Bryan Buckhannon made his way up to finish just ahead of Chad Busha in 3rd.

[WOOLIN]

Kilby tried to chase down Stack but came up short.

[WOOLIN]

Stack was just too fast for them as he took the win by almost 40 seconds.

[WOOLIN]

Stack kisses his trophy.

[WOOLIN]

And the belt was back on the Stack.

[WOOLIN]

Robert Obrick edges out Michael Shelley for the holeshot.

[WOOLIN]

Kevin Johnston gets into the back of Danny Jessee.

[WOOLIN]

This causes Danny to go over the bars.

[WOOLIN]

And now he has a painful walk back to his quad.

[WOOLIN]

Ron Moore lays it sideways on his way to an 11th place finish.

[WOOLIN]

Kevin Johnston held the lead for the first lap but ran into problems and would finish 15th.

[WOOLIN]

Michael Shelley would get around Johnston on the 2nd lap and cruise to a win by over 4 minutes.

[WOOLIN]

Michael Swift gets the holeshot with Ken Robey right on his bumper.

[WOOLIN]

Ken gets thrown by on of the kickers down the start straight.

[WOOLIN]

Ken would get back up and go on to finish 11th.

[WOOLIN]

Mike Penland was having start problems as his quad wouldn’t fire on the line. The team finally got him going but it was too little too late as his finished 15th.

Mike Chirdon rode his Polaris to a 12th place finish.

[WOOLIN]

David Jessee finished 6th.

[WOOLIN]

Kevin Trantham took the win and Charles DeMent finished in 5th.

[WOOLIN]

Billy Good wasn’t racing Sport Class this week but that didn’t matter to Joey Margueria as he went on to win by almost 11 minutes.

Nathan Tyler finished 4th behind Chuck Norris and James Godley.

[WOOLIN]

Jared Borich takes the inside line for an up front spot. A crash would bring an early end to Jared’s day.

[WOOLIN]

There was a pretty nasty crash in turn 2 as quads were tumbling everywhere.

[WOOLIN]

Jordan Gilkerson fought his way through the pack to finish in 6th behind Parker Jones.

[WOOLIN]

Kenny Sampson was running 2nd most of the race but slipped back to finish 4th behind Brian Parker.

[WOOLIN]

Kevin Wallpe got past Brian and Kenny to finish in 2nd. But Ronnie Mills ran away from them all taking the win.

[WOOLIN]

These guys may be older than most of the other racers but you wouldn’t know it by watching them.

[WOOLIN]

That’s going to hurt tomorrow.
