I have a modded 250x, i want to run race fuel. my friend does it in his 250r. its .50 over now and needs a new bore anyway with rings. so im thinking i am going to put it .60 over.....what kind of piston do you think i should use? those valves will get quite hot too so what brand do you think i should get. i think i will need to run higher compression too, so i already have my decompression switch removed, anything else for more compression? thanks for helping

anyone? or cant u do it on 4 stroke cuz of valves for some odd reason

The bore of the piston doesn't matter (for race fuel), but the compression ratio does. get a piston w/ a CR of 11:1 or higher, and you will need some race fuel. If you want to run 100% race, go to like 12 or 12.5.

BTW. why do you want to run race fuel?

thanks......
but i want to cuz it looks fun :D i dont know i want to mod it out alot and it seems u get alot more power if you do.....or dont you

Have you checked on the price of race fuel where you live? Around here, it runs 5-7 bucks a gallon.

Letalone, you cant trade fule with your car or most other bikes in a pinch, you just cant put race gas on a low compression engine. thats why when im going big bore im keeping a compression to run 91 octane,

yes i have checked prices. theres an express mart by my house with an actual pump that says Race Fuel. 4 bucks a gallon.

Dude, i think your better off running pump gas, Sure its seems cool to run race gas, but how cool is it gonna be when you are broke from buying race gas.

the bore of the pistion doesn't matter it's the CR that you need to worry about. keep the CR under 11.1 and you will be fine. however if you go over 11.1 to something like a 12.1 that's when you will need to run race gas. otherwise it will hurt you more than it will help you.

or u can run a 50/50 mix. 50%race gas, 50% pump, like 91 -93 octane. with this u get a little bit lower cost and still get the race gas smell:D

do i need more compression to do half and half? that sounds kinda cool. i do love the smell of my friends b32.

would not recommend this i would only do this is you are ready to spend money quick! u will soon find out how much this stuff costs you can still do everthing u wont with the motor but just try to keep the compression at 11:5 or 11 to keep from having race gas trust me it seems like a good idea at the time but it will get very expensive running it all the time!

race gas keeps motor running cooler and cleaner...
you only need it if you either stroke it or get a higher compression piston. With your mods I don't think you really need it and should put your money else where but I dunno what your compression is.

I would only run race fuel if you actually race. My quad is stricktly a race quad and i run 110 torco race fuel. but i also have 12:1 compression. If your just ridding around the trail, or something like that, i'd stick with regular pump gas, you can still get higher compression with a 10:1 comp. piston and you'll only have to run 93 octane.

ok i do agree with you guys. but i do want to run higher compression w/ pump gas. whats the highes CR i can run without worring about pre-ignition?
