Has anybody ever thought, if i lived really close to the dunes my quads topend wouldn't last no time. I think if you have 400cc or less sand riding isn't that fun. i just really don't have that much fun riding in the dunes, all ways redlined, even the 450r's that was with us didn't just scream across the sand but you could do everything you wanted on the 450. who has went to the sand and was just totally dissappointed on how there quad performed?

I've been out there on my wife's 250EX with nothing more than a pipe and a re-jet and had all kinds of fun! Given, you can't "muscle" your way up a big dune on it; it takes a running start, but there's nothing out there I can't climb on it like that. I kinda like the challenge.

Now, my kids have 110's and can't climb any dunes, but they're kids and don't need to be climbing them anyway

So there ya go.

The biggest problem the 300ex's have in the dunes is the wrong paddles in the back. If you hag a paddle that is too tall, it sucks up a LOT of horsepower.

That being said, even with the correct paddles the 300ex is hurting in the dunes.. lol.

I was running 8 paddle 20-12-10 kenda trakkers. I'm thinking that is to much paddle. Would the 6paddle 20-10-8 glider or 7paddle 20-10-10 hauler be best.

6 paddle gliders.

Haulers and edge are both way to much paddle for the 300.

If you're buying the gliders.. ask about the glider hawks. Theres a couple rows of knobbies left in the middle. Helps keep your paddles from getting torn up in the parking lots.

sand is the best, when you wake up first thing in the morn and hit the dunes before there are any tracks..............
just carve and roost the dunes, its soooooooo smooth
you dont get muddy, you run the race cut fenders and dont worry about rocks, sticks, mud and crud.
I can do anything on my 450r in the sand that I can do in the dirt
jumps land so much softer, crashes are easier on you and the quad.

I started on a 250x and the dunes where about 10,000 feet tall
it took 3 hours to go from end to end.
then the 250r came along and wow I could up shift on the biggest dunes (they shrank)
now the 450r is in the garage and its like riding in the back yard.
you tell everyone in your party that your going to run trails all the way back to camp and open a refreshment.
then 5 min later your there.
still fun but the size and time it takes to cover them is alot shorter
