Ok i just got a cam and piston put in and i rejetted but when i did it it didnt have very good acceleration when i rolled into a corner and hit the throttle WOT so i moved the needle clip down one and now when im going at a steady pace in 2nd or 3rd it kind of misses and sputters im running a dyno jet 170 what do i need to do go up or down a main jet :huh :devil

Try a #42 pilot/slow jet and drop a tooth on the front sprocket. What position is the throttle at (3/4, 1/2 etc..) when it is sputtering in 2nd & 3rd gear?

its sputtering at about 1/4 throttle

1/4 is in the transition from the pilot to the needle. try the pilot jet first. Does the sputtering go away just above that point? Do you have the airbox lid on there? That's also a little low in the RPM band to expect much out of that cam - is it bucking or sputtering?

I have the lid off and its just kind of like hit hit miss etc.

I have the lid off and its just kind of like hit hit miss etc. if i hit it wide open it will stop but if i accelerate a little say to 1/2 throttle and keep it at 1/2 half then it does the same hit hit miss

Try putting the air box lid back on temporarily. If the sputtering goes away then it is indeed still lean. With the lid off, how does it run at WOT? Put the #42 pilot in there and see if it still sputters.
