what is the compression

my 86 trx 250r is not runnin right and i went out and bought a comp tester how do i test for compression and what is it supposed to be, anyone know.....:chinese: :chinese: :chinese:

Get your engine good and warm. Take the spark plug out, thread the tester in and kick it over a few times until the gauge stops going up. Hold the throttle wide open the while your kicking it over.
