They're freakin tanks man.

Tractor....thats about the best explaination. They have GREAT bottom end, its almost impossible to stall them(even with the 17-38 gearing on the one I raced, in the BITD Henderson Terrible 400), and even better top-end..they f*ckin fly on the top end...there just really heavy.

Manuverability in the air(or on the ground most of the time) is zero

Getting the front end up easily for square edges(at least in high speed desert stuff) is close to impossible....

BUT, for high speed desert racing, or anything wide-open most of the time, they do great. Topped out, they track straight as an arrow, and feel like a caddy....and in some technical stuff they are easy to ride do the inability to stall....but then again..our definition of "trails" are much different

Depends on your riding style and terrain.

DS-650's are awesome machines for what they are. Yes, they are tanks. But they are very nice tanks. The suspension is very plush on them and everything is extremely heavy duty. It's a Bombardier so you know it's built well as their Rotax engines are awesome. It's got awesome torque and it gets up to speed very well, so anyone saying they aren't fast obviously has never ridden on. It may not be the quickest (probably due to it's weight) but it is definately an awesome quad if you ride more open spaces and don't mind weight.

they are fast and heavy. Id say they are well suited for "larger" people

mine friend has a ds650 and he loves it. i like it but i like my 400ex way better. they are very wide and they sit up very high. not good for tight trails. but they do have lots of power. and the are very very heavy for a sport quad.

i used to have one.

too heavy
too big
sit weird
power, but not enough to make up for the fact that it is designed for fatasses

Not sure of how fast they go with stock setups.

But on the one I raced in the BITD race..had a Ron Wood(I believe) pipe, Vortex CDI, among a few other things...pretty sure it was a stock motor..

With the 17-38 gearing, he said it would top out at around 100. I had the GPS with me on my first lap, checked it afterwards, and it clocked me at 101 point something.

I know exactly where too...there was a powerline road, smooth as could be, for about 5 miles. Fifth gear, Vortex CDI on Map 2(top end), crouched down, to the stops......pretty f*ckin nuts if you ask me.
