I couldn't wait for the topend so I bolted in the base without it.

The ESR 350PV top end kit which includes everything to bolt on and go if you cases are machined was purchased for $1299 with no portwork done. The porting by R.E.D was $500 but that includes matching everthing and and verifying all the specs. for your engine match the type of power you want. My Radvalve intake was ported for better flow for the big bore, the exhaust flange was matched to the cylinder and the base of the cylinder was matched with the cases. He will also fill you with more info than you could retain or understand. I sold my origional 370 setup for $1500 so this has really only cost me $300 for the port work and I have a brand new topend to bolt on. I was very happy with my ESR 370PV and they have very good service but they are a big shop and your getting a cookie cutter port job. So when I wanted to go back to a stock stroke crank I figured I would try someone else for the porting and RED did some work for me 10-15 year ago so I went to him. With any engine work the proof is in the performance, so we will see if it was worth it when its togeter and running.

well it looks good to me,if i ever get around to it im going to be porting my 330 its a bare cast 330 the ports were fairly clean so i figured i would run it without porting and then resleeve it and port it with a fresh sleeve so i will have 3 bores to go through with the porting.

besides id rather not waste the very expensive carbide bits on one bore and then resleeve it and have to port match it again.

that port job looks really good id like to see some more pics if you could send em to me that would be cool.

I'm in the middle of polishing the exterior right now. When I get done I will take some more detailed closeups for you.

Nice!!!
You have to strenghten the cases to support that big displacement arenīt you?

All together and ready to start the break in tomorrow. Leak down test was 8lbs. for an hour and it went down to 7lbs, not bad. Cranking compression after assembly was 175lbs. pressure. My porter calculated 12.7:1 ratio and said I shouldn't need race fuel but I will be running 1/2 and 1/2 mix of VP C12 and super with AMS oil Dominator.

How has the aluminum frame been treatin' ya? Any cracking, bending or twisting? I'm really interested in trying one of these frames, but they worry me! Any regreats?

I have no complaints about the frame other than the anodizing scratches easily. I'm 37 and don't ride like I used to, mostly pit riding with hillclimbs and drag racing with anyone that happens to ride by on a 4 poke.

Damn, your R will be scary fast once you get it broken in. Nice attention to detail, and good choice having someone else port the ESR jug. Very impressed!!

jon370r

The case saver is made by Noss Machine. Its a very good quality item and I don't know of anyone else that make a full case save and guard together like that. They do alot of banshee stuff.

another guy that does great port work is Kim Muchmore with K&T performance....(i think that's the name of it) in Utah. i sent him a brand new jug, and he ported/polished it for Mx after asking me extensive questions regarding my riding style, abilities, and expectations. he decked a stock head, ported my reed cage, and matched my exhaust flange. i have never been happier.

38 mm PJ oval bored to 40mm and 38 Airstriker. I've run both but I like the PJ because it's easier to tune.
