Chain question

How the heck do ya'll keep your chain tight??~!!! We had to tighen ours 3 times today riding!:scary:

i use a tie down strap on the grab bar and axle until the top of the axel directly under the inward (i believe) left side grab bar bolt is 17" apart..then i tighten it untill it takes a moderate push and pull to get about 1/2" of movement tighten eccentric bolts and i'm done....i never have to retighten it, i just do this when i take apart the carrier to grease it up ;)

I know this sounds kind of errogant, its not meant to though,but we do know the rule of thumb on chain adj lol and I DO aprreciate the help guys!! :) ;)


The problem is... Its not holding.. Its a new Chain we got from RMATV with a Tinsel strength of 7500 WE pd about 57.000 for the chain. I cant imagine that it would stretch after ONE DAY of riding on it??

My chain has stayed tight for about a year now. No adjusting what so ever.

Im not sure how I did it, but im afraid to mess with it and ruien the year of no tightening:p

it will settle in, mine was same way. after the first few rides, it kinda stops stretching. then adjustment will be normal.

my mx bikes were also the same. the chain stretches at first.

even a high-end chain will do the same at 1st, then settle in.

On my 3rd ride (desert only, no racing) my chain loosened as well. Got real noisy, then checked, sloppy as hell

I have maybe tightened my stock chain 3 times since I bought it new in 04!
