Rim Question

I'm going to order rims for my tacoma. I want to get offset ones but I don't want to go too far. My friend was made by the cops to take his off because they stuck out so far. So what should I be looking for?

You can always get fender flairs. I think that the fender flairs would make the wider tires legal, because not as much of the tire is sticking out from the body.

15x8, 16x8, 17x8, or whatever height rim you get with it being 8" wide, the standard offset that they come in will put it a couple inches outside the fender. Assuming its a 4wd rim

So are you trying to say that wider rims make more offset?
