airbox question

i just bought a set of sparks reeds for my 86, and now my carb and airbox are all too far apart to all connect together. do i need to slot the airbox or can i just get away with running a reed spacer?

You could run a reed spacer, I have the Sparks CR250 cage on my motor but do not run a reed spacer. You can make it fit but its a stretch. How old is the airboot from the box to the carb? Over time the get shorter and stiffer and start to become a real pain in the a**. I got new ones and they fit so much easier.
