wow, all i know is i have been going to the races for a little while now and i have seen nothing that looks like that maybe a spin out but no cars getting air. that is crazy

sprint cars can flip about 20-30 feet in the air no problem.
last year at the local track here a late model jumped the concrete retainer wall, a 25ft fence, and landed about 20 rows up into the stands. three or four people got killed. it happened during qualifing when the stands werent packed or it would have been even worse.

i am a volunteer firefighter. so i go to the tracks every saturday night in the summer.

we have seen so many bad wrecks is isn't even funny. a 410 was going down the back stretch and his front right suspension broke, so when he went to turn into the corner it went straight into the clay. he flew over 200ft before he hit and then went another 100ft rolling. walked away.

another flipped over a 30ft, tree and flew almost 100ft coming out of turn one into turn 2.

these guys get some serious speed even on 1/4 mile tracks. much less 1/3 and 1/2 mile ones. it is scary to see what happens to the cars/drivers.

410 sprints ona 3/8 mile track average about 122-128 mph lap times they usally comes into the corners at 135 6 or seven years ago the bristol nascar track was covered in dirt and steve kinser was turning 160 mph on dirt 1/2 mile my modified will turn a 18 second lap on a 3/8 track

As long as they keep rolling it really doesn't hurt. I would much rather flip a few times than just hit the wall. Our car managed to clear the flagstand, and go over 8 times last year. The driver was still alert enough afterwords to fight the guy that wrecked him. lol

He didn't remember that part about 20 minutes later, but he was ok.

my summer job for the last 6 years has been our neighbors sprint car team and i cannot even believe what im seeing most of the time.. my most memerable moment was a few years back at an outlaws race when tony stewart put danny lasowski (sp) in his outlaw car and he thought hed sweep the 360 injection class himself so he ran fairly decent times and ended up starting 3rd row pole and we we were 3rd row outside (runnin 2 wide not 3) so we were side by side and then after about 9 laps in the feature he cant throw our driver off.. we were runnin 2 and 3 at this point.. so tony.. being all agressive like usual :rolleyes: tries to get up on the cushion and move us behind him back into 3rd so when he flies from the bottom and tries to slide into the cushion.. our driver slaps the brakes and drops to the lower part of the track all of the sudden tony gets about 3/4 of his right rear on the cushion and gooood bye tony! he flipped 8 9 possibly 10 times before makin it back to the groundand since that night our #74 has never finished behind either of tonys cars :blah:
