db gas ratio

i have a quick question for you dirtbiker guys out there. i have a 3 gallon tank of gas and i cant remember how much oil to mix with it. i believe the ratio is supposed to be 32;1 but i am not sure. btw it is a 2004 yz85. how do i measure the right amount because previsoly i have been guessing and it seems to be running differntly every tank of gas. i am fairly new to 2-strokes so any help would be apperciated.

you should be able tobuy the oil in a bottle that has a measuring cup on the top.on the label it will tell you how much to add to the gallon of gas for the different mixes.put the amount you need in the cup and dump it in.do it 3 times for 3 gallons

It's probably 32:1 and most bottles will have a chart on the back of how much oil to use per gallon of gas. I bought a 1 quart see thru container at a local gandermountain from their marine section that has all of the ratios printed on the side along with gallons of gas on it. it is similar to the one on this web page

thanks guys i got it all mixed and it is running good. i am still not the biggest fan of 2-strokes though :devil:

FYI the mixing ratio depends on the type of oil you are running.
On all of the two strokes I have owned I ran Bel Ray MC1 mixed 50:1 and never had any problems. It was always real easy to remember. 1 bottle of oil to five gallons of gas.
The local Yamaha Dealership recomended Amsoil Synthetic to my buddy and told him to mix it 100:1. He never had any problems.

If you are buying a large bottle of oil and mixing it with small amounts of gas at a time I would suggest you buy a RatioRite. It will save a lot of headaches.
