Whining

my 250ex is making this whining noise from inside the engine, sort of like a winding noise when u give it gas. my friends 250 does the same thing. anyone know what it is?

It might be something thats rubbing inside. Is your oil low?

nope oil is fine, my dad was talkin to someone and he say it may be the timing belt. what is that?

If I'm not mistaking the 250ex don't have timing chains, and I never heard of a quad having a timing belt. They have push-rods. They basically control the timing. I can't explain things to well so maybe someone else can help you there.

The 250EX has an odd arrangement. It has pushrods AND a cam chain (timing chain). The cam chain spins the cam and then the pushrods carry that motion to the rocker arms which actuates the valves.
