400ex noise

My 400ex is making a clanking sound in the motor and one of my friends dads said that I propably need my valves ajusted, or do i have a more serious problem!

400ex valves normally tick as it is, but if it's a loud clanking noise do not start the engine back up. Its a possibility that it's your connecting rod. But i'd adjust the valves first and check the oil level.

Could also be that your cam chain is streached and your tensioner is at the max. When the tensioner is at the max it wobbles up and down creating a loud tick.
