Well me and my buddy has been doing alot of smack talk lately on racing our 4 wheelers, both are 400exs(with 22in tires) lol, im dying to get him on top end on the highway for $#i+'s and giggles, his is bone stock and i will have a k&n air filter, outerwear, jet kit, removed baffle and a 16t front sprocket before we go riding thursday evening (1st time since ive been home from iraq). Will I be able to spank him on top end or will it be like every other race and we are side by side, thanks for any input

you'll prolly get him on topend because of the front sprocket upgrade.

I bet your 400 wont pull the 16t sprocket. I know my 400 at one point had simualar mods, it would only pull it on pavment:chinese: . so I dono.

That's kinda what I was thinking. If you had some more stuff done to your bike you might be ok, but probably not with what you have done.

By the time you pull out with a 16tooth he will be gone!

and if your worried about top end i would leave the baffle in, of course you might not be able to pull the 16 tooth front sprocket with it still in.

with 22'' s in the rear stock gearing is a little harder for the ex in the top end a 16 tooth front is like dropping 3 teeth in the rear without more mods , compression etc. your buddy will be out of your zip code before youll pull that gear wide open, Ive got a high comp. 440 with 22''s & have tried everything over the years & with all the mods 15/38 isnt bad but wicked fast but 14/38 is better for trails woods etc. but still fast as hell because the motor will rev freely right to the top when the motors luggin you may not get max rpm out of it (maybe downhill) but thats my 2 cents

my motor is just about as fast as a 416 will get and still can run all day. and I cant pull my 16t front sproket throu grassy rough terain. on like a dirt road or pavment it is no problem, I can bounce off the rev limiter. I dont have much "WFO" experience on sand, Im not shure how good you can float over it.

btw, Im running 20" razar2's.

well we raced, from a dead stop he can pull me about 2 quad lengths to topend then i start creeping on him, from a 3rd gear roll i pulled him about 2 quad lengths to topend, still very very close and i did not see a 5mph improvement, it will pull the 16t better than i expected, espcially in hills
