if your really wanting to see more power out of your 400, then i would go with a big bore kit, like a 416, 426, or 440. and increase the compression. i went w/ a 416 kit 11:1. also let it breath better w/ a K&N filter, with maybe a aftermarket lid to allow the most air flow. for these, your lookin at $130 for the piston kit, $35 for filter, plus another $30 for gaskets. all of these are the prices i got my stuff off of motosport.com. now the lid is up too you though.

hope this helped

to spend the least amount of money... get a big bore kit , high compression pistons and good air inflow and she will be ready to go

a pipe, filter, and the right jetting should be a good start. maybe a 14t sprocket....

i just did my big bore 426 kit and it cost me, 160 for piston and gasket set, 70 for clutch, 50 for cam chain, 125 for cam, and 75 for bore. so less then 500 for the big bore. but then i did the carb which was another 400. its not all together yet but im sure it will make a world of difference

power and fun to hold you over

14t front sprocket $15 steel $25+ alum

slip on exhaust $200+

jetted/no lid airbox/remove choke/filter $35+

rev box $50+

easiest, quickest, cheapest way to noticiable power on a 400ex
