im not bashing just found this interesting
back in 1966 honda built 2 GP motorcycles for the 50cc class and one for the 125cc class

they where both fourstrokes competing against twostrokes so drastic measures where made to increase power

there model numbers where RC116(50cc) and RC149(125cc)

the RC116 specs where

engine DOHC four stroke parallel twin four valve
Bore and stroke 35.5 x 25.14mm
Displacment 49.77cc
output 14 hp
Redline 22,500 rpms (crazy)
Compression ratio 12.0:1
gearbox nine speed
weight 110.2 pounds
top speed over 109 mph

the RC149 specs where

engine DOHC 4-stroke inline 5 4-valves
Bore and stroke 35.5 x 25.14mm
Displacment 124.42cc
output 34 hp
Redline 21,500 rpms (crazy)
Compression ratio 12.0:1
gearbox eightspeed
weight 187.4 pounds
top speed over 130 mph

the cylinder in the RC 149 was only an inch and a third

these things must have been crazy to drive and probably sounded like a swarm of bumble bees

but a 125 putting out 34 hp makes me wonder how a 450 only puts out 42 i think honda should put more money into there engines i mean if a 125 puts out 34 hp then shouldnt a 450 be putting out like 80

granted the race bikes where probably rebuilt every race and probably ran like crap but dang

also the twostroke counter parts that other manufacturers made only had a 500 rpm power band and had 18 speed gearboxes thats just insane

faster top speed because of gearing and why are you comparing a GP bike to a quad?

Power to weight ratio has a lot to do with it.
